Matt O’Riley only signed a new deal at Celtic in October, so Saints will not have a lot of room for negotiation and they are said to be about to offer £20 million whilst Celtic have put a price on his head of £25 million, plus the rumour mill is suggesting that there are other clubs on the horizon interested in the player.
With a name like O’Riley you would imagine that the player would have a background from Celtic’s traditional Irish Catholic fanbase, but the 23 year old was born in London and has been capped by Denmark at international level.
He was signed by Celtic from Milton Keynes Dons in January 2022 just a year after then manager Russell Martin had signed him from Fulham.
So it is now becoming clearer why Saints should be linked.
He has flourished as a player at Celtic and has been a key player in their side, hence the interest from other clubs.
Now it seems ~Saints are interested, but whether they will be willing to pay £20 million is a big question.
