After Malachi Moreno committed to the Kentucky Wildcats last month, he said he’d like to be known as “the best recruiter in the country.”
Shortly after that, Jasper Johnson committed to Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats, becoming Pope’s first-ever 5-star recruit.
Moreno spoke with KSR and laid out which recruits he’d like to join him and Jasper in Lexington for the 2025 season.
“I would definitely say Braylon Mullins, that’s my guy. Been on the same AAU team for four years and wouldn’t want to see him anywhere else,” Moreno told KSR on this week’s edition of the Sources Say Podcast. “I’ve been working on Acaden Lewis, and then some of the other guys the coaches like. If they ask me to talk to them, I’ll give them a holler.”
Both Mullins and Lewis are top-40 prospects, both of whom are being heavily targeted by the Kentucky coaching staff.
“Acaden is a true point guard who can really score at all three levels, can really pass. He’s a tough, hard-nosed guard,” Moreno told KSR. “Every camp I’ve been to with him, he’s always gotten better. He doesn’t back down from anything. And he’s ambidextrous, so I think that’s pretty neat, too.”
While Mullins may have played with Moreno, it seems like Kentucky is making Lewis a bigger priority at this time. Like Jasper Johnson, Lewis is capable of playing effectively on and off the ball, making for a versatile backcourt pairing if they both land in Lexington. Mullins is more of a true shooting guard, though he’s still a great talent and someone Kentucky wants.
Will the two targets Moreno wants most join him and Jasper Johnson in Lexington to fill up Mark Pope’s first class at Kentucky? Time will tell.
