Zac Lomax has not ruled out a full time switch to the wing upon his arrival at the Parramatta Eels after a standout season at both club and representative level.
A subtle shift one step over in the backline made by Dragons coach Shane Flanagan marked the beginning of the 25-year-old’s stellar makeover this year.
In the space of 12 months Lomax went from a club footballer to a representative player, earning calls ups into Michael Maguire’s inaugural Blues side and Mal Meninga’s Kangaroos.
Lomax was initially reported to be unhappy with his move to the wing at club level but has since denied any hostility towards continuing on in the position.
“At the start of the year I just wanted to compete on every single play, wherever that was that I am playing,” he told 9News from Kangaroos camp this week.
“Now I’m playing for my country so it’s pretty surreal.
“Who knows what next year brings, you just never know.”

The outgoing Dragons star admitted he had been motivated by talks that he has yet to reach his full potential.
Now donning the green and gold jumper, Lomax’s fire has well and truly been lit.
“I guess you sort of just lean into it,” he said.
“You have to buy into it. It can cripple some people but for me, I’ve just bought into it.
“I love it. I love that I can feed off that energy.”
Eels halfback Mitchell Moses offered his praise for his Kangaroos teammate and revealed he is excited to see how Parramatta grows with Lomax’s injection.
“It will be handy to have him there,” Eels halfback Moses said.
“He just competed the best (on Sunday). He was outstanding for us. He helps us come up with some big plays.”
But when asked if he believes Lomax is better suited on the wing, Moses laughed: “I think he’s a centre.”
Lomax and Moses will return to action with the Kangaroos on Sunday, November 10 in the Pacific Championship final.
