With 10 games at GMHBA Stadium, seven matches in Melbourne and six interstate trips, Cats fans right across the country will get the chance to see their team in action.
As is the case every year, there are certain matches that standout a little more for one reason or another.
Take a look at five games you simply can not miss in Geelong’s 2025 season, and where you can see each game.
1. Opening Round – Brisbane Lions v Geelong Cats @ The Gabba

This is a must watch matchup for a number of reasons, as the Cats kick off the 2025 AFL season in the opening game of the year against Brisbane.
2025 will mark Geelong’s inaugural Opening Round appearance, as they head to the Gabba for a Thursday night blockbuster.
This matchup has been one of the more underrated rivalries in recent history, with a number of memorable clashes between Geelong and Brisbane.
It will also be a 2024 Preliminary Final rematch, as the Cats look to kick off their campaign on a positive note.
If there is one game you will not want to miss next season, it is this one.
2. Round One – Geelong v Fremantle @ GMHBA Stadium

Geelong’s first game at GMHBA Stadium for the 2025 season will come in round one, as they host Fremantle on a Saturday afternoon.
With 10 games at Kardinia Park next year, the Cats will look to assert their dominance at home, starting with the clash against the Dockers.
Fremantle have found success at the venue in recent years, winning the two most recent clashes at GMHBA Stadium (2022, 2023) which makes this clash even more enticing.
3. Round Six – Geelong v Hawthorn @ MCG (Easter Monday)

One of the great modern rivalries will write another chapter, when Geelong and Hawthorn square off in the traditional Easter Monday clash.
This match will be the Cats only home game in Melbourne for the year, while also being the only time they face the Hawks in 2025.
Geelong have had the better of the matchup in recent history, winning five of the last six clashes against Hawthorn, but the Hawks were a much improved team, reaching a semi final in 2024.
There is always fireworks when these two teams meet, expect nothing different in 2025.
4. Round Eight – Collingwood v Geelong @ MCG

Another matchup that is always exciting and draws a big crowd, Geelong will take on Collingwood in a Saturday night blockbuster in Round Nine.
For the Cats it will mark their third consecutive match at the MCG, following clashes with Hawthorn (Round Six) and Carlton (Round Seven).
The last four games between these two teams has produced an average crowd of 82,576, creating an exciting atmosphere at the ‘G each time.
Geelong beat Collingwood in their lone meeting in 2024, the Magpies will be looking to bounce back, this will be a riveting clash next season.
6. Round 23 – Sydney v Geelong @ SCG

Anticipation will build for this late season matchup, as the Cats head to Sydney for a clash with the Swans at the SCG.
This matchup has been another underrated modern rivalry, with three of the last seven clashes decided by six points or less.
Geelong has not won at the SCG since the 2020 Covid affected season, setting up an enticing game heading towards September.
