CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman guard/forward Cooper Flagg picked up his seventh ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week honor, the league announced on Monday, Jan. 20. In Duke’s two victories over the past week, Flagg averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocked shot, while shooting 14-of-25 (56.0%) from the field and 10-of-12 (83.3%) at the free-throw line.
In an 88-63 road win over Boston College, the freshman from Maine amassed 28 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free-throw stripe, while adding five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots in 31 minutes of action.
During an 89-54 triumph over Miami, Flagg collected 13 points, seven boards, six assists and a steal in 28 minutes.
Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 93 of a possible 197 weeks (47.2%). Twenty-six different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
The Rookie of the Week recognition is Flagg’s seventh of the season and he has earned the honor in four out of the last five weeks.
No. 2 Duke returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Blue Devils (16-2, 8-0 ACC) remain on the road, traveling to Wake Forest (14-4, 6-1 ACC) for a 4:30 p.m. matchup. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
