Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese’s life has been a rollercoaster over the past month. After Reese’s incredible rookie season came to an abrupt end due a fractured wrist, the Sky failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
Chicago subsequently fired Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, a decision which left Reese devastated. “I’m heartbroken,” Reese posted on Sept. 26. “I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me.”
While the 22-year-old processes Weatherspoon’s exit and rehabs her wrist, she’s continues to deliver new episodes of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” produced in partnership with NBA legend and fellow LSU alum, Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq joined Reese on the court one day before latest episode dropped, during which she made a massive bet with the 15-time All-Star.
Reese bet Shaq $100,000 that he wouldn’t be able to make a free throw shot, and the 52-year-old sank the basket. “I guess I owe him 100K ,” she posted on her Instagram Stories.
Fans couldn’t believe how much Reese wagered against the four-time NBA champ, and the video quickly went viral on TikTok. One person commented, “That’s her whole contract.” Another fan wrote, “Isn’t that her whole salary for 4 years?” One viewer posted, “Chill.. that’s most of your contract money.”
Reese, the No. 7 overall pick from the 2024 WNBA Draft, signed a a four-year, $324,383 contract with Sky, however, the 6-foot-3 forward has numerous sponsorship deals worth millions. Not only does Reese have a major partnership with Reebok, she’s also sponsored by Reese’s Pieces, and had one of the highest NIL deals during her tenure at LSU.
