Arsenal Fourth Signing To Be Completed Next Week As Gunners Beat Spurs And Chelsea To £50m Deal

According to sources, Arsenal will finalize a £50 million deal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in the next seven to 10 days.

Jesus, who has primarily served as a backup striker at Man City, is willing to leave the Etihad this summer in order to establish himself as the center of attention for a side.

Jesus has drawn attention from Tottenham, Chelsea, and Real Madrid as well, but according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal has won the race and will complete a deal at the beginning of next month.

Jesus would join goalkeeper Matt Turner, forward Marquinhos, and midfielder Fabio Vieira, who completed a £34 million transfer from Porto earlier this week, as Arsenal’s summer additions.

Once Jesus arrives at the Emirates, Arsenal’s summer expenditure will nudge closer to £100 million, with the agreements for Turner and Marquinhos estimated to be valued at about £7.5 million and $3 million, respectively.

Last summer, Arsenal spent almost £150 million on new players, but despite their spending binge, the Gunners were unable to secure a return to the Champions League.

For most of the season, Arteta’s team appeared to be headed for a top-four finish, but they faltered at a critical moment and fell behind rivals Tottenham in north London.

Following Pierre’s departure, Emerick’s Jesus will be Arsenal’s primary striker in the upcoming season.

Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette may also lead the line in addition to Eddie Nketiah.

Since coming to England five years ago, Brazilian international Jesus has scored 95 goals in 236 games for Manchester City and won four Premier League championships.

While serving as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Man City, Arteta collaborated with the 25-year-old and approved Arsenal’s earlier-in-the-year acquisition of Jesus.

Jack Wilshere, a former midfielder for Arsenal, has previously supported Arteta’s pursuit of Jesus and praised the Brazilian as a “great, fantastic addition.”

He told talkSPORT:

‘I think he would be a top, top signing. He’s a top striker and he’s obviously played in a top team for many years now.

‘He knows the Premier League so he’s someone who could come in and fit in straight away. With Arsenal’s creative players, he would score a lot of goals.’

After wrapping up a deal for Jesus, Arsenal will turn their attentions to Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, while they have already made a bid for Leeds United winger Raphinha.
