Bayern Munich Finally Send Message To Arsenal Amid Link To Serge Gnabry

Despite rumors that winger Serge Gnabry might leave this summer and even return to Arsenal, Bayern Munich sports director Hasan Salihamidi insists the club wants to keep him.

The Germany international‘s contract is set to expire in a year, so Bayern has the option of letting him depart for nothing in 2023 or selling him this summer for a profit if he is determined to leave.

Sadio Mane was already acquired from Liverpool this summer to bolster the German champions’ assault, and because of his versatility he can play on both sides as well as in the center of the attack rumors of Gnabry’s departure have grown.

Gnabry played more Bundesliga games for the club in 2021–2022, although his future appearances may be curtailed given the presence of players like Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, and Robert Lewandowski in the Bayern team.

The 26-year-old joined Bayern in 2017, after playing for Werder Bremen for just one season. That came after a five-year stint with Arsenal, whom he joined in 2011 as a 16-year-old young youngster.

Salihamidi believes he wants to keep Gnabry despite reports that strongly suggest he would return to the Gunners.

Salihamidžić says:

‘I’m very clear about that, he’s a great guy,’

‘We really want to keep him. We would love to extend with him. I think we showed him the necessary appreciation. I hope that he chooses FC Bayern.’

‘We will intensify the talks over the next few weeks. But if a player doesn’t want to decide for the club then it’s only fair to tell us so that we can find a solution that makes everyone happy.’
