SOUTH BEND —Jourdan Blake, who spent the past two seasons in the recruiting department at Colorado, is reportedly headed to Notre Dame football as its new director of player personnel.
Blue and Gold Illustrated had the first report on Monday.
Blake replaces Zaire Turner, who followed former Notre Dame general manager Chad Bowden to USC in late January.
A former reserve defensive back at Baylor (2014-17) and Southern Methodist (2018), Blake is the son of former Oklahoma coach John Blake, the first Black head coach in any sport for the Sooners.
John Blake, who died of a heart attack at age 59 in July of 2020, was a former Sooners nose guard and assistant coach. Blake won two Super Bowl rings as a defensive line coach with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s before leading his alma mater to a 12-22 mark from 1996-98.
Jourdan Blake, a former standout dual-threat quarterback at Princeton (Texas) High School outside Dallas, was a reserve defensive back and special team contributor in college.
Before joining Colorado coach Deion Sanders’ staff, where he worked as assistant director of high school relations and associate director of player personnel, Blake served stints in the recruiting departments at SMU (2019-21, 2022-23) and Texas Christian (2022).
Blake also worked briefly last summer as a scouting intern with the NFL’s Houston Texans.
Notre Dame recently promoted Carter Auman to recruiting director, replacing Caleb Davis after the latter was named GM at San Diego State.
Former Detroit Lions scouting official Mike Martin was hired last month as Notre Dame’s GM.
