Michigan football has added one wide receiver from the transfer portal, Donaven McCulley, in an effort to upgrade one of the worst passing offenses in college football.
But the Wolverines aren’t done. They have been trying to add another receiver and another quarterback — one who can mentor and compete with five-star freshman Bryce Underwood.
Michigan football hosted DeQuan Finn earlier this week, the former Toledo quarterback. Mikey Keene, the former UCF and Fresno State signal-caller, was also on campus, along with former five-star Alabama running back Justice Haynes.
Another transfer portal target to know for Michigan football
Another skill position player on offense visited Michigan football though and that’s wide receiver Skyler Bell, who played for UConn last season. The 6-foot, 190-pounder caught 48 passes last season for 783 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged more than 16 yards per reception.
Bell also has one year of eligibility remaining. Before transferring to UConn, Bell played three seasons for Wiscosnin. He only saw action in one game in 2021, but caught 30 passes for for 444 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore, then caught 38 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown as a junior.
68 receptions for a Big Ten team is something to feel good about. He’s also got 113 career receptions and a 13.3 yard-per-reception average. Bell would fit Michigan football for a few reasons. For one, it would be easier to get into the school since he’s been in college for four years.
Bell is a starting-caliber player and would give the Wolverines another veteran for whoever plays quarterback next season. If the Wolverines were able to land someone like Duce Robinson or even bring back Tyler Morris to an offense that will be more pass-happy, suddenly, the Michigan football wide receivers wouldn’t sound so bad, especially when adding top-100 wideout Andrew Marsh and Jacob Washington, who was ranked 198th overall in the 2025 class.
Robinson will be a tough land, but Bell feels like a perfect fit. He visited over the weekend according to Alejandro Zuniga of 247 Sports and I’d be on the watch for a commitment in the coming days. It just feels like an ideal fit for both sides.
