The Pittsburgh Steelers could lose one of their young, intriguing adds from last year’s season. Cornerback C.J. Henderson, who the team placed on injured reserve in the middle season, never returned to play or practice. He suffered a neck injury.
Now, Henderson is set to hit free agency once again, but the Steelers might lose him. The injury, coupled with the fact that he has pedigree, could make him an interesting target for some teams that want to take a low-risk dart throw at cornerback.
The Steelers signed Henderson to the active roster after multiple teams tried to sign him from the practice squad. A former top-ten pick, Henderson has yet to live up to the potential of his billing, but the talented cornerback has plenty of experience, and teams value that.
Over his career, he has spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Texans before signing to the Steelers’ practice squad earlier this season.
