Santi Aldama led the Grizzlies with 22 points. Jay Huff notched a career high of 18 points and shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Ja Morant contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. Scotty Pippen Jr. tallied a double-double with11 points and a career-high 12 assists off the bench.
Franz Wagner paced the Magic with 23 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Suggs scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Paolo Banchero totaled 16 points with seven rebounds.
The Grizzlies, who shot 53.5 percent and tallied 38 assists, won their home opener for the third time in the last four seasons.
Zach Edey knocked down the first 3-pointer of his NBA career in the second quarter, helping Memphis build a 69-43 halftime lead. The Grizzlies scored the final 12 points of the first half.
The Magic cut the 29-point deficit to 83-75 following a 21-0 run in the third quarter. Suggs scored 16 in the third period, while Wagner added 12.
