The Memphis Grizzlies (12-7) extended their winning streak to a season-high four straight games with a 131-111 win over the Detroit Pistons (8-12), in the second game of a four-game home stand Wednesday at FedExForum.
Marcus Smart scored a season-high 25 points, shooting 7-of-11 from 3-point range, while Jake LaRavia scored a season-best 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting to key a season-high 72 points off the Grizzlies’ bench. Scotty Pippen Jr. added 19 points as a starter.
The Grizzlies, who shot 54.8 percent overall, had seven players score in double figures for the league-leading ninth time this season.
Marcus Sasser and Simone Fontecchio set season highs with 22 points and 19 points, respectively, to lead Detroit.
The Pistons led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter and led 39-38 early in the second quarter before the Grizzlies went on a 15-1 run to take a 13-point lead. Memphis went on to outscore Detroit 37-18 in the second quarter and would lead by as many as 30 in the second half.
Memphis defeated Detroit for the eighth straight time in the overall series, while the Pistons lost their sixth straight visit to FedExForum.
The Grizzlies improved to 8-3 at home this season and won for the seventh time in their last eight at FedExForum.
Memphis continues its four-game home stand on Friday, Nov. 29at 4 p.m. CT against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Grizzlies’ third Group Play matchup of the Emirates NBA Cup. The game will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Southeast and 92.9 FM ESPN Radio.
