The NBA dunk contest has been a point of significant attraction for the fans. With significant interest circulating around the event, the best dunkers are expected to come in and showcase their dunking abilities. Unfortunately, this does not stand true. After all, there are a significant number of NBA stars who have refrained from joining the contest. And one of the biggest names among them is Morant.
Morant has been asked several times to come and participate in the NBA Dunk contest. Sadly, things didn’t quite turn out as expected. Surprisingly, after declining the offer for so long, it now seems that Ja Morant might just enthrall the fans to make his presence felt in the NBA dunk contest.
Posting a cryptic message on his social media, Ja Morant wrote, “mac might make me decide to dunk.”
Surely, such a statement will surely elevate the anticipation of the fans. Afterall, Morant has some exceptional dunking talents that he has showcased in the NBA. Meanwhile, Darius Garland has recently floated an unique idea to make Ja Morant play the contest.
Darius Garland Proposes Big Bonus To Convince Ja Morant
Cleveland Cavaliers’ guard, Darius Garland mentioned that in order to make big names like Ja Morant participate, the NBA needs to up the bonus by a significant margin. Interacting on the ‘Run It Back’ podcast, Garland stated that despite Morant declining to dunk any further, money might motivate him.
“We need to up the bonus or something. $250,000 or something, that’d get you somewhere! We could get Ja [Morant] or Zion [Williamson] or somebody, and I know they don’t want to dunk no more, and all the other comments they’ve said, but if that money is talking…..” said Garland.
