We will soon see the confirmation of Andrew Hughes and his arrival at Leicester. He is said to be the new set piece coach at the club, joining the staff under Steve Cooper.
So who is Andrew Hughes and why is he the first signing under Steve Cooper. Hughes (46) is a well walked man in football, with a long career as a footballer, playing more than 600 official appearances for clubs such as Leeds, Norwich, Notts Co and Charlton among his clubs.
After his playing career moved into coaching as his first job at Bolton also gave him a bit of experience as the first team manager, taking temporary charge under that period about 10 years ago.
He has since worked in a number of different environments such as Huddersfield, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich, so not a bad appointment when it appear.
Ben Petty has left his position as head of the U.21 development team at Leicester. He has joined up with Chris Davies at Birmingham to become his assistant manager. Chris Davies and Ben Petty both have a history at Leicester.
Ben Petty had a good end to his time at Leicester, keeping the U.21’s competitive over a season with a lot of changes, getting many of his best players back towards the final stages as the results improved. Petty joined Leicester in 2016, coming in from Aston Villa, being there also in a developement team coaching capacity. Petty played for clubs such as Stoke and Hull.
