Good morning, BBN!
It may be the beginning of summer, but football season will be here before we know it, and the Kentucky Wildcats are primed for another strong season.
In particular, their linebacker core was arguably their biggest strength last year, and that’s not changing in 2024-25.
The Cats were just ranked 3rd overall by PFF for their LB core, with the only two schools above them being Clemson and Iowa.
Kentucky brought back D’Eryk Jackson, who earned a spot on PFF’s 2023 All-SEC team after an impressive senior season. Another key returner, Alex Afari, ranked third among SEC linebackers with 12 coverage stops last season.
On top of that, they brought in the highly touted Georgia LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson from the transfer portal, who was in the top 10 in LB rankings for a lot of analysts across the country.
Kentucky has always had great linebackers like Danny Trevathan, Bud Dupree, and so many more. It’ll be fun to see this core work together this year!
