Chelsea and Everton are the only opponents Saints beat the last time those sides locked horns in league action.
Che Adams, who could still depart the club on a free transfer this summer, was on the scoresheet the last time they beat seven of their 19 opponents for this season.
With that in mind, here is a look at the last time Southampton beat every one of their 2024/25 Premier League opponents…
ARSENAL
Southampton’s recent record against Arsenal is pretty decent, having only lost three times in the last nine meetings, stretching back to November 2019.
They avoided defeat on both occasions during the 2022/23 relegation campaign – drawing on both occasions.
You must cast your mind back to April 2022 for the last time Saints were winners against the Gooners.
Jan Bednarek fired a first-half goal into the near top corner to make the difference at St Mary’s.
ASTON VILLA
Villa did the double over Southampton during their last campaign in the Premier League, beating them 1-0 both home and away.
November 2021 was the last time Saints beat the former European champions when Adam Armstrong smashed in an early winner at St Mary’s.
That goal transpired to be Armstrong’s last Premier League strike for 31 gameweeks, his next goal coming against Chelsea in August 2022.
The 27 year old will be looking to beat his career-best Premier League tally of two goals after his sensational form in the Championship.
AFC BOURNEMOUTH
Saints faced AFC Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly ahead of their promotion-winning Championship campaign, losing 3-2.
They also lost 1-0 when the teams faced in Premier League action at St Mary’s in April 2023, Marcus Tavernier scoring the only goal.
They did however beat the Cherries in the reverse fixture earlier that season when Che Adams headed past Neto inside the first 10 minutes.
BRENTFORD
Saints delivered a rampant 4-1 victory against Brentford at St Mary’s in January 2022.
Goals from Bednarek, Adams, Armando Broja and Alvaro Fernandez’s own goal ensured an evening of high entertainment.
You would be forgiven for thinking Southampton followed that impressive win with further victories against Thomas Frank’s side. However, you would be wrong.
In their last three meetings against the Bees, Southampton have conceded eight goals and scored zero, losing all three ties.
BRIGHTON
The UK was still navigating the COVID pandemic when Saints were 2-1 winners over Brighton in December 2020.
Graham Potter’s Brighton took the lead through Pascal Gross’ spot-kick before the towering Jannik Vestergaard equalised just before the break.
A controversial penalty followed in the final 10 minutes, which Danny Ings rifled home to lift Saints up to fifth.
CHELSEA
Much like they did against Arsenal, Southampton managed an unbeaten record against Chelsea during their relegation campaign.
Unlike against the Gunners, Saints did the double over Chelsea, despite finishing bottom of the league.
The second of those victories was a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a stunning James Ward-Prowse free-kick.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Nathan Jones’ Saints earned a 2-1 FA Cup win over Crystal Palace in January 2023, but for the club’s last league win, you have to look back to 2021.
Under Ralph Hasenhüttl, Saints battled back from behind to beat Roy Hodgson’s side 3-1 at St Mary’s.
A close-range goal from Adams was sandwiched between an Ings brace after Fraser Forster had saved a Luka Milivojević penalty.
EVERTON
A Ward-Prowse double at Goodison Park in January 2023 helped Saints to a 2-1 win over Everton.
The skipper put two past Jordan Pickford as they came from behind to earn Jones his first, and only, Premier League win as Southampton boss.
The visitors had been saved by the woodwork when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s deflected shot hit the crossbar before Ward-Prowse’s free-kick winner.
FULHAM
Saints have only lost three times against Fulham stretching all the way back to January 2005, however, two of those defeats came during the 2022/23 season.
For their last win, you need to look a little further back to May 2021, when Hasenhüttl’s men were 3-1 victors.
Goals from Theo Walcott, Nathan Tella and Adams meant Fábio Carvalho’s 75th-minute strike counted for little at St Mary’s.
IPSWICH TOWN
Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich are one of three Premier League opponents that Saints faced last season.
Saints lost on both occasions against the Championship runners-up last season. Instead, Southampton’s last league win against the Tractor Boys came in August 2011.
Doubles from Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana sandwiched David Connolly’s goal in a 5-2 win. Keith Andrews and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas scored for Ipswich.
LEICESTER CITY
Saints were thumped 9-1 across both meetings with Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City last season as they went on to win the Championship.
In contrast to that, Saints did the double over the Foxes in the season where both teams were relegated from the Premier League.
Charly Alcaraz’s first-half strike saw Rubén Sellés’ Saints win 1-0 at St Mary’s after Ward-Prowse saw a penalty saved.
LIVERPOOL
Liverpool complete a trio of teams Saints came up against during the 2023/24 season – Martin’s side fell to a 3-0 FA Cup defeat at Anfield.
That was Southampton’s sixth straight game against the Reds without winning, their last victory coming in January 2021, thanks to an early Ings strike.
MANCHESTER CITY
It was Jones’ Saints who put a stop to Manchester City winning the quadruple during the 2022/23 season.
An unlikely 2-0 win over City at St Mary’s in the EFL Cup was a rare high point in an otherwise disastrous season.
Southampton’s last league win over Pep Guardiola’s side also came at St Mary’s. A July 2020 game behind closed doors was won 1-0 thanks to Adams.
The Scotland international dinked Ederson from distance to secure three points in style.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Saints have failed to beat Manchester United in their last 15 meetings across all competitions, drumming up an aggregate scoreline of 29-13.
Southampton’s squad still contained Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Dusan Tadic when they last beat United.
A 1-0 win at Old Trafford was achieved in January 2016. Charlie Austin scored the winner.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
Scotland internationals Stuart Armstrong and Adams were on target when Saints recorded a 2-0 win over Newcastle in November 2020.
The result saw Saints climb to the top of the Premier League table for the first time ever.
Southampton have failed to win their last seven games (league and cup) against the Magpies since then.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST
It has been over a decade since Saints last beat Nottingham Forest – both teams were playing in the Championship at the time.
Goals from Guly Do Prado, Connolly and Morgan Schneiderlin helped Nigel Adkins’ side to a 3-0 away win after Luke Chambers had been sent off for Forest.
TOTTENHAM
A late winner from Adams in February 2022 saw Hasenhüttl’s Southampton leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.
They came from behind twice, thanks to goals from Broja and Moi Elyounoussi, to secure a 3-2 victory over Antonio Conte’s side.
WEST HAM
Continuing the trend of winning games by scoring three goals, Saints were 3-2 winners over West Ham on Boxing Day 2021.
They were twice pegged back before Bednarek headed in Ward-Prowse’s free-kick delivery in front of the Saints fans.
WOLVES
Saints have a very poor recent record against Wolves in the Premier League having failed to beat them in their last eight meetings, losing six of those.
They did beat them 2-0 in the FA Cup in February 2021 – S Armstrong and Ings scoring the goals.
However, the likes of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Maya Yoshida were still in red and white the last time they beat Wolves in the league.
In April 2019, Shane Long scored in the second half, adding Nathan Redmond’s first-half double to seal a 3-1 win at home.
