Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines have made another addition to their 2025 squad through the transfer portal. This time, they’ve landed a commitment from Ferris State offensive lineman Lawrence Hattar on Sunday afternoon.
Hattar is a Michigan native and played his high school ball at Livonia Churchill. He committed to Ferris State as a member of its 2022 recruiting class and ended up being a three-time national champion. This past season, Hattar was a first-team All-American in Division II. He had entered the transfer portal back on Dec. 21. Prior to committing to Michigan, he received interest from schools like Wisconsin and Pittsburgh, per Trevor McCue of Rivals.
Listed at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds, Hattar has the versatility to play on the interior of the offensive line or at tackle. He joins Brady Norton as Michigan’s second offensive line commit in this transfer portal cycle.
With the departure of Josh Priebe and Myles Hinton to the NFL, two starting spots will be up for grabs once spring ball begins. Additionally, the struggles of Michigan’s offensive line throughout the 2024 season showed that upgrades could be necessary up front. The Wolverines had missed out on portal targets Josh Thompson and Fa’alili Fa’amoe to LSU and Wake Forest, respectively, but Michigan did well to make another addition to a position group that was lacking.
It’s unclear right now where Hattar ranks in Michigan’s offensive line pecking order. At the very least, his experience and versatility should give the Wolverines a good depth option and another competitor in an offensive line battle that should continue on until the season begins in the fall.
