A big piece of the Memphis Grizzlies puzzle could be missing Thursday night.
Grizzlies star Ja Morant was added to the injury report on Thursday morning ahead of the game against the Houston Rockets (8:30 p.m., TNT). Morant is dealing with right shoulder soreness. He is questionable to play.
Morant has been no stranger to the injury report this season, dealing with a string of nagging injuries. He’s played in 28 games and missed 19 for the Grizzlies (31-16). Those 19 missed games have disqualified the Grizzlies star from winning regular-season awards like MVP or making an All-NBA team.
Morant is averaging 20.3 points and 7.5 assists per game. Memphis is 19-9 when Morant has played this season and 12-7 in games without him.
If Morant misses Thursday, Desmond Bane likely would slide over to point guard with Luke Kennard joining the starting lineup.
