The transfer window is now open for business and all eyes are on Steve Cooper and the club’s recruitment team in what is set to be a fascinating summer at the King Power Stadium.
With Cooper having been handed the task of leading the Foxes now they’re back in the Premier League, the fans are eager to see what will happen in terms of signings and departures.
And with that being said, here is the latest rumors’ and gossip doing the rounds as we take a look at what is being said from the media at home and abroad.
Leicester want to extend Ndidi deal – claim
Leicester City are looking to extend Wilfred Ndidi’s contract according to journalist Santi Aouna .
It comes amid reported interest from Everton, Lyon and Marseille for the midfielder. The 27-year-old does not have a shortage of suitors having played 32 games last season as the Foxes sealed their return to the Premier League. He also managed five assists alongside scoring four himself.
Ndidi’s contract expires this summer and also attracted interest from Nottingham Forest.
Leicestershire Live says: Keeping Ndidi seems a smart move to make and talks over a new deal make sense given he has been such a good servant. But the power is out of Leicester’s hands. But if he joins Nottingham Forest that would be a blow given both sides are East Mids rivals and are likely to be duking it out in the lower half of the table next season.
Derby interested in Daniel Iversen loan
Derby County are keen on Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen as they plot a successful return to the Championship sauys Alan Nixon .
The Rams are currently without a number one after releasing Joe Wildsmith at the end of their promotion winning season. And they are now keen on striking a loan deal for Iversen who spent part of last season on loan at Stoke City.
Leicestershire Live says: Iversen has a year left on his current deal so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that someone could look to buy him rather than take him on a loan. But if Leicester do loan him to the Rams then it is a deal that would make total sense. It would be a decent move for Iversen who would be guaranteed game time and would at least get some of his wages off the books for another season.
Leicester cool interest in Belgian
Leicester City are said to be stepping down their interest in RWDM midfielder Pierre Dwomoh after he picked up an injury while playing for Belgium’s U21s according to Sacha Tavolieri
The Foxes have been linked with a 20-year-old for some time amid claims they had even been in negotiations with the player’s camp. But his recent injury seems to have put a £2.5m deal on the backburner.
Leicestershire Live says: With Steve Cooper now in situ, all eyes will be on the recruitment in what is going to be a fascinating summer. Injuries are part and parcel of the game but it wouldn’t be the first time that one has scuppered a deal.
It would be sensible for Leicester to see how that plays out before making a decision on whether to reignite their interest.
