The 2024-25 NBA season is fast approaching, and for many players, it’s an opportunity to settle scores, break records, and showcase their abilities to the world once again. One of those players is Memphis Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant.
During a segment on ESPN, Richard Jefferson highlighted one player in particular with the most to prove this season: Morant.
Jefferson compared the Grizzlies to the Oklahoma City Thunder from a few seasons back, before Morant’s off-court issues and injuries derailed the team’s momentum.
The upcoming season presents a fresh start for Memphis, and Morant will be at the heart of their potential resurgence.
After a turbulent year, Morant is eager to move forward. His 2023-24 campaign was marred by a 25-game suspension, handed down after he was seen brandishing a firearm on social media multiple times. This suspension put the Grizzlies in a tough spot right from the start.
When Morant eventually returned to the court, he managed just nine games before suffering a severe injury that ended his season. However, during those appearances, he was nothing short of remarkable, posting averages of 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists on an efficient 47.1% shooting from the floor.
Now, with those setbacks behind him, Morant is poised to make a triumphant return.
The Grizzlies were among the top teams in the Western Conference just a couple of seasons ago, and they have the talent to reclaim that status. For that to happen, Morant needs to stay healthy and focused, both on and off the court.
Though it’s been a challenging stretch, Ja Morant’s brilliance is undeniable, and 2024-25 will be his chance to remind everyone just how exceptional he truly is.
