Stefon Diggs has sparked some concern in Houston this offseason following an unexpected decision.
The wide receiver isn’t with the Buffalo Bills anymore, but his offseason behavior hasn’t changed all that much, as it appears to be a case of deja vu for him ahead of his first season in Texas.
Diggs was traded earlier this year, having fallen into disenchantment with the Bills franchise over a year ago. He was a subject of speculation after skipping their OTAs and has prompted some more this year, having opted out of the first round of optional practices with the Texans.
There was plenty of concern regarding Stefon Diggs’s choice to skip optional activities in Buffalo in 2023. He had already expressed a desire to be elsewhere after remonstrating with quarterback Josh Allen on the field during a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs.
He skipped all optional practices and was sent home by head coach Sean McDermott on the first day of mandatory minicamp. He returned the following day, and there were no more issues after that.
His production on the field wasn’t as great, however.
Stefon Diggs Brought A Familiar Feeling Back
While Diggs isn’t required to attend the first set of practices with his new team unless he wants to, his decision is a curious one.
“That said, it’s simply a bit nostalgic—and hilarious—to read that he’s already missed an OTA practice. It’s deja vu all over again,” Sports Illustrated’s Kyle Silagyi wrote last week.
“If you hear a faint noise in the distance, it may be the collective “well, well, well” emitting from homes across Western New York,” he also joked.
While veteran players skipping OTA’s is not uncommon, fans could be forgiven for expecting Diggs to be keen on developing chemistry with his new teammates.
