After becoming the oldest player with four-straight 25-point games to begin a season, it appeared that Durant was en route to extending the streak in Phoenix’s 125-119 comeback win over the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting through three quarters.
However, Durant did not even attempt a shot in the fourth quarter against L.A., ending his night with the 18 points. In the first four games, Durant had been averaging 10.3 points on 57.1% shooting in the fourth quarter.
After the win, Durant called out bettors on X telling them “better luck next time.”
While Durant did not score in the fourth, he did have two clutch blocks at the rim, as the Suns outscored the Clippers 73-49 in the second half.
Phoenix came back from down as much as 21 points to get the road win, led by a season-high 40 points from Devin Booker, picking up their third-straight win and improving to 4-1 on the season.
The Suns, now in second place in the Western Conference, will next take on the Portland Trail Blazers (2-3) at home on Saturday.
