We didn’t see any of Damion Lee of the Phoenix Suns last season because of an injury but we could be witnessing his big return soon.
Evan Sidery is reporting that Lee will exercise his $2.8 million player option this summer and plans to remain with the Suns.
Lee showed great promise during his first season with the Suns so Phoenix fans are excited to see what he can do upon his return.
Lee came to the Suns in 2022 after playing with his brother-in-law, Steph Curry, on the Golden State Warriors.
He shot 44.5% from the three-point line during his season with the Suns but then tore his meniscus in training camp last summer and missed all of 2023–24.
The Suns could use his special brand of shooting, especially from someone coming off the bench.
He could help keep the team strong when the starters are resting, especially if he continues to score so well.
The Suns have a few other stars with player options and they are waiting to hear about their plans.
In the weeks ahead, Josh Okogie, Eric Gordon, and Drew Eubanks must all commit to Phoenix or try their hand at finding a new team.
The Suns are desperate to have a much better season in the fall.
Despite the big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the Suns were swept out of the playoffs in the opening round, and it’s very clear they aren’t performing as fans had hoped.
Lee could give them a boost of good energy when they need it most but the Suns might also add some more talent before the new season tips off.
