Cole Palmer has revealed the trophy he dreams about winning in his career as he targets future success at Chelsea.
Palmer has been an absolute revelation since making the switch from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £42.5m.
The 22-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm and scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his break through campaign last season, which saw him named Premier League Young Player of the Year.
Palmer reveals the trophy he dreams of winning
Chelsea added to their attacking ranks with the signings of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho, and Enzo Maresca believes the Blues are no longer “Cole Palmer FC.”
Whilst Palmer is still Chelsea’s main man others have stepped up with Christopher Nkunku scoring 12 goals in all competitions, whilst Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke have eight and five league goals respectively.
Palmer has still hugely contributed and is Chelsea’s top scorer in the league with nine goals, whilst he also has six assists.
The Blues have shown this season they are capable of winning when Palmer doesn’t have much of an impact on games and are certainly more of a team than last season.
Palmer is now back amongst the goals having gone three goals without a goal contribution and will be looking to score for for the third league game running against Tottenham on Sunday.
The England international has picked up so many individual awards, but he was recently asked about what trophy he dreamed of winning.
“Ballon d’Or, that’s what everyone wants to win,” he told the Men In Blazers YouTube channel.
Palmer ranked 25th in this year’s award which was won by Manchester City’s Rodri, but Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has backed him as a future winner.
Palmer certainly has the ability and the attributes to do it, but he will need to contribute to Chelsea winning major trophies if he’s to stand a chance of getting his hands on the award, although you wouldn’t bet against him.
