Three young Cats have been recognised for their outstanding seasons in the AFLPA’s 22 under 22 squad

Telstra Rising Star fancy Ollie Dempsey, and emerging midfielders Tanner Bruhn and Max Holmes have been selected in the AFLPA’s 40-man 22 under 22 squad, presented by Snaffle.  

A fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of a season, the AFLPA today announced a squad of 40 players with the trio of Cats recognised for their 2024 seasons to date.  

For a player to be eligible for the squad of 40, they are required to play 50 per cent of the home and away season, equating to 12 matches. 

While there is a game minimum, players are rewarded for their consistency across the season. 

The final team will be announced on August 21 via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels. 

In the 2024 squad of 40, six players (including Holmes) have previously been selected in a 22Under22 squad and are looking for their first selection, while nine players have previously been selected in the final 22Under22 Team. 25 players have been selected in the squad for the first time.  

Voting is open now, with fans having until 11:59pm on August 14th to vote for their best 22!
