Memphis Grizzlies forward Vince Williams Jr. was diagnosed with a Grade 3 ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, the team announced on Thursday.
Williams suffered the injury in Tuesday’s loss against the Denver Nuggets. He was seen on the bench for Wednesday’s win against the Philadelphia 76ers with a boot on his foot.
Losing Williams is a blow to the Grizzlies’ wing depth and perimeter defense. Williams is viewed as one of the team’s best shooters and perimeter defenders.
The injury is the latest blow for Williams after a breakout campaign during the 2023-24 season. Williams played 52 games before missing the final month due to a knee injury.
Before this season, Williams suffered a stress reaction injury in his left shin. He didn’t make his season debut until Nov. 15 against the Golden State Warriors.
Williams played in two full games before the injury in his third appearance against Denver.

The injury was diagnosed as a grade 3 right ankle sprain, and he will be re-evaluated in about four weeks.
Williams has appeared in just three games for the Grizzlies this season, following a tibia injury that kept him sidelined for the beginning of the season.
Williams averaged 10 points per game as a sophomore in 2023-24, making 33 starts for the injury-plagued Grizzlies.
